Having discovered the beauty of wine late in our lives, we realized that for people who aren't exposed to the wine world early, it is a tough world to get into.

The language, the culture and the codes are intimidating and can be off-putting for many.

Especially for the new generations who are turning their backs on wine.

But also for tourists who are visiting Paris and may be hesitant to engage with a wine culture that could feel unwelcoming.

This digital platform, easy to navigate and accessible, has been created so that everyone can get into the wonderful world of wine.

What does "podobar" mean?

podobar is a mashup of 3 interpretations of the word "podo".

First of all "포도" (pronounced "podo") is the Korean word for "grapes". Which gives us "podobar" meaning "grape bar", as a reference to the main ingredient of wine. Our oenologist and founder being Korean, this is a homage to her culture.

For the keenest eyes amoung you, you might have spotted the pattern of the Korean Flag in our logo appearing as wine in a glass — a subtle way to blend both the Korean and French cultures.

Second of all, "podo" comes from ancient Greek "podos" meaning "foot". As a reference of the ancient way of making wine, by stepping on the grapes.

Finally, with podobar, the journey to find the best wine bars in Paris is now a walk in the park... using just your feet!

Do you really visit all the wine bars?
